How mental illness can lead so suicide

Suicide is a mental illness that is talking over America. We need to come up with solutions that we can stop this from happening to families.
Seize the Awkward 300x250

This ad is speaks volumes about the pandemic that’s silently sweeping through our nation.  Mental health is something that many people have but none really want to admit to dealing with because we all want ourselves and family to look like the good perfect family.  Many people would rather suffer in silence than to seek the help that is desperately needed because no one wants to be singled out for being different even though all of us are different.  Mental health problems are in every family, all most every household (if not every household), and spans every culture on the face of the earth.  Mental health has is the oldest disease in the world, it has been documented on every continent on the earth and where ever there are people there will be mental health issues.
There is a trend sweeping the nation and it’s called “don’t tell anyone”, don’t tell about anything you’re dealing with, you’re struggling with, especially anything that would cause anyone to people to look down upon you.  Too many times people deal with things, on a daily basis, that they wish they could just talk to someone about, they are literly crying out within themselves wishing someone could see them and recognize the signs that something is going on with them.  Mental illness is kind of like being in an abusive relationship, things may have started out find in the beginning but somewhere along the way little things happen.  Little things happen for a while and always compound to bigger things later and can lead many down a road that there is no return from.  So many times I hear that “if I were rich I wouldn’t have any problems”, but the fact is that regardless of your race or economic status, you can deal with a mental issue.
This ad encourages young adults to reach out to their friends who may be struggling with a mental health disorder. Young adults can be a great asset to their friends by helping them seek the help they need. It also encourages them to be aware of any mental health changes in their friends. Suicide is one of the major causes of death among this age group.  Suicide happens when pain exceeds the resources for coping with pain.  Ending your life is the wrong choice for your problems.  Suicide changes a family drastically. Some young adults have experienced physical and sexual abuse.  Many are in DHS custody due to choices their parents made.  This age period is very crucial because they are transitioning into adulthood. Any time you are transitioning, it brings along stressors. Some stressors they experience are graduating from high school, going off to college, and starting a new era in their life. This ad offers resources on how to get your friends to open up who are experiencing mental health issues. It also encourages us on how to minimize the social awkwardness in order to help our peers seek the help they need. The ad mentions the website SeizeTheAwkward.org, as a resource to help us recognize the warning signs. The reason to mental health stigma is the lack of education. The ad is also talking about helping a friend, and talking to them to see where there head is.
Some of the warning signs are feeling hopeless, expressing having no reason to live, isolation, giving away personal belongings, being a burden to others, depressed mood, and loss of interests in activities. Many people feel like killing themselves is a way out of their present problems. They don’t feel like they have any another options to deal with problems. They lack important coping skills for everyday problems. Many seek other methods to deal with their problems like drugs and alcohol.  This ad encourages us to recognize the signs so our peers can get the help they need.
It is my belief if more people were educated about suicide, the warning signs, and who is at risk to help decrease the suicide rate in the United States.  This ad brings just that to the light.  The need for suicide prevention is quite obvious because suicide is such a common dilemma in the United States.  Suicide affects people from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, and different cultural groups.  This is a common thing that is current thing that is happening in young adults as the ad mentions.
This ad gives up to information on who to contact if you witnessed someone displaying the behaviors that were previously discussed.   I believe that even though the treatment of mental illness has progressed, we still have a long way to decrease the stigma attached with getting help.  The ad mentions about young adults helping their peers because they are least likely to turn to their parents for help.  That why our role is very important and crucial in helping others, but if we never reach out to someone, want help or even believe we have a problem there can never be any help for us.  It always comes down to everyone paying attention to our friends and neighbors to recognize the signs of something happening with someone, even our own family.  I have found out that the use of substances can move someone from sane to questionable in a heartbeat.  Many people just try something when they are young not believing there could be any lasting effects.  Try a little weed, a little coke, a few sips to be like everyone else, to deal with some issues, to take the pain away, but this can magnify any mental illness that you’re dealing with, taking from a level two to a level 6 in no time.  We all are dealing with something, we are all lacking in some area of our lives, but how can me reach for our dreams when the one thing we are lacking is that connection, that can get you to the state of being that regardless of what I have to go through and no matter my issues there is someone to help me to come out of everything I’m in.

I would be talking about going to a funeral.
Always go to funerals
There are many reasons to go to a funeral. You have the opportunity to pay respect for the deceased. You also provide the family support during their difficult time. Death is something that hit every family, so you never know when its going to hit your family. It hit my family hard June bug kids was crying. His kids range in age to fifty to sixty. His daughter read a poem gone to my new home.

Funerals bring forth a lot of emotions and stress for families. Showing people that you care is better than you telling. Being available to the family is very important. Do what you can to help ease their stress. I hugged his kids, and they were happy to see me .
Death comes in and it does care if you are rich or poor. Neither does it care about the color of your skin. That’s why you show support to families, because you never know when it is going to be your families time.
It is impossible to go through life with loosing someone who is so important to you. No one wants to go through it, but with the help of others it can make it easier to bear. Even though you can’t avoid death. Going to funerals make you realize how precious life is, and how important to hear your family that you love them. It is also important to see your family often.
Death brings so many feelings for the family. Many people experience depression. My mom when she lost her older son she went through a time in her life being depressed, and today on his birthdays it is still hard on her, because of unresolved issues like unforgiveness. Some people can’t recover. That is why family needs you. I have had death hit my family a lot. We go to funerals to respect the person that has died.
Funerals are not only emotionally difficult, but financially as well. Death hits families, and they are not financially prepared requiring donations from others. Sometimes they are not able to pay for the funeral. If some =one is not able to pay for the funeral, and they need donations help them if possible, because it could be your family in there shoes.

Reading Response Advertisements R Us By: Melissa Rubin

The story is about  coke ad during the 1950's. It talked about the audience it was the soldiers. It also tell how had America was back in those times.

Advertisements R Us By: Melissa Rubin
In Advertisements R Us she talks about coca-cola ads.  The coca-cola ad shows some evidence that it is geared towards a certain audience like white males and females.  It  includes blue collar workers in casual clothing, servicemen in uniform, and businessmen in suits, these were seen as the typical white roles. This placement of the ad tells us a lot about the 1950's. The ad tells us that in America there was a lot of racial prejudice going on in the 1950s in America. In the older times this ad used white people in the white jobs and things that they would relate to in order to target this auidence. Coca-Cola valued patriotism at this time, Rubin said  “The ad was ment to inspired similar positive feelings about there product.’’  With World War II ended, and the Korean War going on, this ad was  to bring Americans together by pointing out the coke machine, the factory, and sky scrapper was poping up all across american to make it’s audience think of Coke when they think of certain jobs and especially America. The 1950’s, even though it was more diverse than in previous years, it wasn’t deverse when it came to certain things, especially when it came to advertising certain products. Most companies, boards, and manufacturing heads were made up of white heads, even the advertising industry, so it was only natural for them to only think of advertising to people like themselves and seek the opinion of people that look like them.  Today's advertising still uses targeted advertising but it creates many  ads, even in other languages, to target as many people as possible and to show togetherness, which was lacking in the older ads.  Many of the Coke ads still show patriotism and tries to put America at the front of your mind.
